Kids love hands-on learning experiences, and who doesn’t love a petting zoo?!? On May 18, the Marin County Department of Public Works (DPW) will host one, but without animals. Instead, there will be tractors, backhoes, fire trucks, sheriff cruisers, construction machinery, and heavy equipment!
The family-friendly fair is totally FREE and in celebration of the 64th annual National Public Works Week. The event will feature presentations from civil engineers and environmental scientists, covering a variety of topics from sea level rise planning to recycling. For the nuts & bolts side of the equation, there will be demonstrations from staff on road construction, traffic systems, emergency services, and much more!
There will also be hands-on activities, games, face painting, balloons, music, and prizes. We welcome everyone, this will be a fun event for all ages! For high schoolers and beyond, there will also be information about the County of Marin’s internship program and details on how to get into various career paths in the public works industry.
