What happened to the groups that were performing there?

Although the VMA remains closed for the near future, performances, events, and activities are still vibrant at the Marin Center in the Showcase Theater, Exhibit Hall, Bartolini Gallery, and fairgrounds. Some arts organizations have found alternative performance venues to sustain them until the VMA is reopened.    

Will the venue get new seats?

How long will it be closed?

The Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium (VMA) will require more construction upgrades than originally scheduled during its current renovation because of recently discovered concerns. The earliest anticipated reopening date is fall 2025 as the Department of Cultural Services and the Department of Public Works collaborate on the project.

Grading without a permit

The start of any grading work, including preparatory site clearing or soil disturbance, prior to the issuance of a grading permit is a violation of MCC §23.08 and may subject the property owner to fines MCC §23.08.130. Property owners are encouraged to contact Land Development to clarify requirements.

Fees

The grading permit application fee is $550.00 and is non-refundable. Additional fees, including plan review, field inspection and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), will be determined after review of the proposed grading project.

Application for permit
