Fairfax-Bolinas Road CONDITION UPDATES, thank you for your patience: At milepost 5.73, Fairfax-Bolinas Road will be open on weekdays and weekends from 12/16/24 through 1/1/25 (weather permitting), with traffic controlled through a single lane with alternating access. This is to accommodate the holiday traffic. From 1/2/25 through 1/5/25, the road will be closed at milepost 5.73 to allow for construction activities as the project nears completion, weather permitting. After 1/5/25, it is anticipated that the road will be closed from Azalea Hill to Ridgecrest on weekdays only. By mid-January, the project is expected to be completed and the roadway will fully reopen. See project webpage for details.

2024 Central Region Road Paving

Description

Overview

The County’s unincorporated road network pavement condition has improved notably in the last decade due to concerted efforts to invest in preserving this infrastructure. The 2024 Central Region Road Rehabilitation Project will be performed in the Los Ranchitos neighborhood of unincorporated San Rafael and will include the following roads:

  • Red Rock Way
  • Baytree Road
  • Oak View Drive
  • Indian Road
  • Knoll Way
  • Circle Road

Improvements for this project will generally include asphalt grinding/milling, dig-out base repairs, pavement resurfacing, drainage inlet replacements, berm reconstruction, and refreshed traffic striping.

Funding

The estimate for this project is $1.2 million and will be funded by the County's Road & Bridge Fund.

Traffic impacts

Construction will take place during daytime hours with traffic control measures. Ten-minute delays during lane closures, and short duration residential road closures are necessary; however, access will always be provided for active emergency service vehicles. Every effort will be made to provide advanced notice and minimize inconvenience to residents.
