Description

Overview

The project generally consists of adding a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Berens Drive, McAllister Avenue and the Chicken Path Trail in Kentfield.  The proposed safety improvements include new signage, truncated domes, revised striping along McAllister Ave and new pavement markings designating a crosswalk.

The project includes the addition of rubber curbs, which provide delineation of the "landing area" of Chicken Path Trail's entrance. The rubber curbs bulb out slightly into McAllister Avenue so that pedestrians can see potential oncoming traffic before they enter the crosswalk. The curbs also improve visibility of the landing area at night.

Funding

The estimated $25,000 project is being funded from the County’s Road and Bridge fund.

Public impact

Chicken Path Trail will be closed February 18 through February 20. On February 27, the new crosswalk will be striped, curbs painted, and new signs installed. Traffic impacts will be minimal, but there will be flaggers to direct cars and pedestrians around the work zones when necessary.
