The County of Marin administers the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood insurance program in unincorporated areas of Marin County. For flood information about incorporated towns or cities, please contact the specific community directly.

The Association of State Flood Plain Managers (ASFPM) has a powerful tool to help property owners understand their flood risk and learn about effective flood mitigation strategies for their particular property.

To the average property owner, flood risk mitigation can feel like an overwhelming task. People do not always know where to start, so they put it off until it is too late. One of the goals of ASFPM’s Reduce Flood Risk tool is to put people on a path toward understanding their specific flood risk and arming them with the knowledge they need to reduce that risk.

ReduceFloodRisk.org is an interactive flood mitigation resource library that aims to demystify flood protection for the general public. For additional information on the resource, please see ASFPM's promotional video on YouTube.
