Point Reyes Petaluma Road Improvements
Description
Overview
This Point Reyes Petaluma Road safety improvements project that is designed to widen the southbound roadway approaching the Nicasio Valley Road intersection to allow for a dedicated left-turn pocket for vehicles turning onto Nicasio Valley Road. This change is intended to improve sight distance and visibility at the intersection, which would enhance driver awareness and reduce the potential for rear-end collisions, particularly for vehicles waiting to turn left. A small retaining wall would be constructed on the north side of the road to support the roadway changes.
Funding
The estimated $3.2 million project is 90% funded by a Highway Safety Improvement Program grant and the remaining 10% is funded by the Marin County Road & Bridge Fund.
Public impacts
Traffic control measures will be determined once a contractor has been selected and their construction plan finalized. Please check back soon for updated information.
