Transportation permits

About

Per the State of California’s Streets & Highways Code (SHC), transportation involving the operation of oversize and/or overweight vehicles on roads maintained by the County of Marin requires a permit from the Department of Public Works — Land Development Division. County of Marin maintained roads vary in topography, width, and limited site distances and may be unsafe for vehicles over certain lengths or weights to travel. Likewise, some bridges and roads were constructed many years ago and may not be safe for vehicles over certain lengths or weights to travel. To minimize disruption to County residents and damage to the County’s roads, the Department of Public Works — Land Development Division will consider the type of vehicle and proposed route in its review of your application.
